SAT Format and Structure (for the new digital sat march 2024 test and beyond)
Reading – 64 minutes (54 questions) Divided into two 32-minute modules
10 minute break
Math – 70 minutes (44 questions) Divided into two 35-minute modules
The digital SAT is be comprised of two components: reading/writing and math. The reading/writing section will total 64 minutes and the math section will be 70 minutes total. The test will take students 2 hours and 14 minutes to finish. Each of the sections, reading/writing and math, are divided into two modules. There is a 10-minute break in between the reading/writing component and math component.
The first module for each component will be a mix of easy, medium, and difficult questions. Their next module will depend on how they perform on the first module. The second module could be an easier one or a more difficult one. Doing well on the first module will give the student a second module that will be more difficult.
Most of the questions on the new digital SAT will be multiple-choice questions. However, on the SAT math modules, there will be some questions that ask the student to come up with the answer. There will be no answer choices provided to choose from. These were called grid-ins on the previous SAT. Similar to the previous SAT, the student does not want to leave any questions unanswered. It is better to guess than to leave a question unanswered.

We will have a SAT tutor come to your home for one-to-one instruction. Sessions can also occur at our office (addresses above), a local library, or coffee shop/Panera Bread location. We will review previous SAT practice test scores or official SAT/PSAT scores to determine the area of focus. We can also email SAT practice test instructions in order to take the test at home.
